Over the years they have come and gone at Callum Brae, no more than a couple
at a time. Possibly due to ants fluctuating in numbers. They must need an
awful lot of them. I trust continuity of food supply is investigated before
any transplantings.

"Augurs well for Brown Treecreepers that used to be hereabouts," a junior
authority on such matters ventured. Then, bless my binos, 5 minutes later,
on a dead windfall, we saw a single Brown Treecreeper. Junior Audubon was
extremely choughed ... I mean chuffed.
Is there any doubt about the identification of this Brown Treecreeper? If
not, this is a very exciting find! When I first came to Canberra about 15
years ago, Brown Treecreepers could always be seen near the horse gate at
Campbell Park, but I don't think they have been recorded there now for about
ten years. Apparently they don't move around much, and I understand there
is a plan to reintroduce them at Goorooyaroo/Mulligan's Flat. The Newline
birds seem to have disappeared on my last few visits so maybe they do move
around more than is realised?
