I suggest we reappraise and probably give greater use of Ockham's razor. Notwithstanding that we do, by statistical definition of the term, occasionally get rare birds and probably moreso during extreme climate, it is however best to go with the less unlikely species as initial identifications and only invoke the rarer ones if really needed. This cuckoo appears to be one example and the baby House Sparrow picture posted this week is another.
