We have had a great deal of success on our rural block by encouraging
regrowth of what is there naturally and then selecting what we want. eg
grubbing out Briar Roses etc. It is now 25 years since we started and we are
beginning to see the benefits. Fencing off areas with any old material
really helps.
We now have a good selection of understorey plants in parts of our place. We do some limited plantings to increase the diversity. It is hard work and the Bush does a better job. Our place can handle fire, flood and drought much better than it did. The Bush also makes good use of small falls of rain. None of this is surprising . We also have to consider fire risk So far we are free of NMs. Julienne |
