Flushed a bird out of the reeds near the large dead trees to the left of the bridge at Kellys at about 2.30 today. It flew a few metres and landed back in the reeds near the old raised road approaching crake alley. I walked into the reeds and flushed it again..it flew towards the main swamp and landed. It was brownish with rounded wings and dangling legs. I had only fleeting views but from consulting my library it would seem to have been a Buff-banded Rail.  It made no sound.  Never seen one fly before..Definitely not a Little Bittern.

Would anyone like to comment.
