Numbers are pretty low for
both sessions of the above walk to be held this Saturday 20 October, so if there
are any COG members interested in joining in please do so. We'll be
holding walks at 9 and 11 am, and basically doing the Nature Trail except we'll
cut out some of the steep ascents and descents. This is about
a 2.5 km circuit taking in Cooleman Trig, from where excellent 360 degree
views can be obtained.
Birds on the NW end of the
Ridge at the moment include Rufous Songlark, Dusky Woodswallow and if we're
lucky Southern Whiteface.
I've included the Gang-gang
ad below for further information.

Cooleman Ridge; Saturday 20 October ? joint
walking/birdwatching event for the public
As part of Parks
Week, together with the National Parks Association, COG will hold an
introductory event for beginners or those new to bird watching or bush
walking. This will take place from
9:00 to 13:00 at the NW end of Cooleman Ridge off Kathner
Street Chapman, where there are both good walking tracks and a good variety of
birds. In particular the range of
views of the Murrumbidgee Valley and the mountains beyond, or back into the
city, is unrivalled in Canberra. While
this is mainly aimed at the public, new members or beginners in COG are also
welcome. Please contact Jack Holland
(6288 7840 AH or by E-mail on )
to book your place.
