Benj and myself had a good but brief view of a BUFF-BANDED RAIL in "crake
alley" yesterday evening. It stood upright among dense grass on the edge of
the inlet metres from where we had been watching 2 BAILLON'S CRAKES
foraging for minutes.
Other highlights included a lone ROYAL SPOONBILL in the backwaters and a
WHISTLING KITE struggling with what looked like a snake in the paddocks.
