Last weekend, travelling to and from Wollongong in order to take a bashing from the ocean in a brisk southerly, I witnessed relatively large numbers of White-necked Herons on the lagoons (Rowes, Wollogorang etc). The story was identical in the Southern Highlands with 6 at an insignificantly sized pond in the corner of a paddock near Moss Vale.

It looks as though there has been an irruption into the northern COG AOI at least.
