Was about to send this when John Leonard's own response came in and Martin's support:
 
My initial thought from my own experiences is that this is a Bulbul of sorts. Think this might be a Black Bulbul (Hypsipetes leucocephalus) which has a wide range from India to China and down into SE Asia. The blackish plumage with coral bill and feet are diagnostic though guides I have show a red eye as well but that may be obscured by light in photo angle(?). It's also a garden bird which might explain a photo without ID.
