I visited Kelly's late yesterday afternoon, met Benj for the first time, saw an Ornithorhynchus for the first time in the wild (were there two??) along with Stephen, a birdo from Sydney.  Stephen got some good photos of a pair of Australasian Shovelers, and a Black Shouldered Kite but we dipped on the Rails etc. seen there of late.

As I returned to the carpark a large bird, mostly black with white speckles on the throat and upper breast, and a mighty fine crop of iridescent blue/green tail feathers was making its way in.  Oh, did I mention it had a red comb on its head?  Yep, it was a Rooster, the finest lookin' rooster you ever did see, but will it be a feather duster tomorrow?  Escaped from where?  The Ranger arrived at about the same time but had no knowledge as to its origin.    He was also unaware of the Platypus and set off to check it out.

Cheers
