Another sighting of a Rose Robin today - this time in O'Connor Ridge NR.
Saw one yesterday at Gossan Hill NR. Both birds were male, both were
feeding from the lower branches of cherry bushes. They were different
birds, with today's bird having somewhat of a spotty appearance where
the breast colour met the stomach colour, and yesterday's bird having a
more tidy delineation.
Breeding records for O'Connor Ridge NR (including Bruce Ridge NR): Grey
Currawong (on), Australian Raven, one pair on, and a second pair
building. Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, two pairs inspecting separate
hollows. Striated Pardalote entering and leaving hollow. Crimson
Rosella, one pair inspecting hollow and a single on the nest - this bird
was on the nest on my last visit and I think is brooding eggs.
The Grey Fantails have turned up in numbers and there was a single
Olive-backed Oriole but no other Spring migrants. Golden Whistlers were
about in larger numbers than normal.
