Update on this.  (See previous messages).  First picture below was on Day 1 (13 May), second on Day 83 (4 August), third on Day 107 (today).  The question to me is whether the second picture represents a recent wound, possibly from prey, or a worsening of an underlying condition such as an infection.  It seems that today’s picture is not conclusive.  While this is consistent with the healing of the Day 83 wound, it is also consistent with a significant worsening of the Day I condition, which might have also caused the bleeding in the second picture.  There is no scarring of the kind you would expect if the second picture had indicated the extent of a new wound.   If I was a vet and someone brought me this owl, I might be inclined to suggest that a bit of filler be applied to the problem.
