Thanks Con, yes indeed, in particular the two species affected by the fires
in the Brindabellas, and the two summer migrants which have been relatively
scarce in recent years and which you're very likely to most often see when
you're not actually surveying as they migrate northwards during late
summer/early autumn.
The boobook too is underreported in general surveys, with in my view the far higher numbers of GBS records being for birds calling during the night when members are in bed rather than out surveying (Martin has just confirmed this!). Checking the ABR I was surprised to see the Tawny Frogmouth outnumbering the boobook by 3:1 in general records, but is much lower in the GBS, possibly because it doesn't tend to call as much (and/or that it tends to be softer and not wake people up?).
