On the subject of unwell birds, you might remember Julian’s updates on the cere of the Powerful Owl.  Below left is Julian’s pic of 17 June (which I’m sure Julian won’t mind my downloading).  On the right is mine of last Saturday, 4 August.  An infection or a new injury?  (Restraint in diagnosing a cereous problem etc will be appreciated.)

I suspect the WFHE is sick.  I base this assessment on 2 minutes viewing and the case studies of the Powerful Owl and Little Wattlebird at the Bot Gardens.  There seems to be a strong correlation between unusual sightings and unwell birds.
