Philip,
I
tracked the White fronted Honeyeater on Tues arvo. I had a nice chat to an
Italian bloke who told me that there was "a tree full of those birds here
yesterday". I think he was looking at Thornbills or
Silvereyes.
I suspect the WFHE is sick. I base this
assessment on 2 minutes viewing and the case studies of the Powerful Owl and
Little Wattlebird at the Bot Gardens. There seems to be a strong
correlation between unusual sightings and unwell birds.
I also saw a small cage in Philip's yard, just the
sort that one might use to carry a bird from Hay to Kambah. Make your own
conclusions.
On a much more serious and truthful note, I was
very impressed with the habitat and birdlife around Philip's place. It is
a very nice urban area and I loved the interconnecting lanes, paths and
parks.
What are the odds of 1 WFHE coming to Canberra
and setting up house on the doorstep of a COG member's house. Lets say
there are 80,000 houses in Canberra and 500 of them have a Grevillia
flowering in July. Also assume there are 300 to 400 active
birdwatchers. Its getting a bit hard, I need a statistician. I
reckon that there has to be more than 1 WFHE in Canberra at present.
Philip please add me to your list if WFHE
sightseers and thank you.
