Stuart Harris saw the White-fronted Honeyeater
and took some photos of it at about 4.30 yesterday. I saw it this morning at
about 9.30 (also showed it to John Waldron(?) although I didn't have time to
stick around) and about 30 minutes ago (only attempts I've had today). First
time it took about 2 minutes to arrive, second time it was already there. I will
be out part of tomoroow and don't know about the weekend yet. Directions are
simple. Go into Hiles Place and turn right at top of the T and stop at
bollards, walk past yellow brick house (on left, the one with the dogs), look at
next house which has brown vertical weatherboard, the Grevillea is on the left
(and my house on the right behind the Photinias). If it is not already in there
or flitting or sitting in the deciduous trees near there, it normally arrives
along Hiles Place within 5 to 10 minutes. It has a few favoured trees to
stop off along Hiles Place. It is about a 5 metre walk (someone arrived in a
wheelchair on Tuesday and saw it).
Listen out for the
"toc" call or a double "shirp" (a bit like the migration call of the White-naped
Honeyeater). (why can't I change the font size?)
