According to the NPWS Wildlife Atlas the closest records post-1980 are all
to our west from Coolac, c.Tumut and Harden. There is also a single record
from Marulan near Goulburn.

Re: [canberrabirds]
Black-chinned Honeyeaters
What intrigues me is the record of this species in the new Australian Atlas
(vide p 485 thereof). As far as I can establish it is in 35S 149E and
doesn't look too far from the ACT (and in fact would seem highly likely to
overflown the ACT on its way there).
Has anyone contacted the nice Atlas folks to get details of this one?

Hi all,
I think it is pretty obvious that the observer, who I do not know, is
confusing White-naped Honeyeaters with Black-chinned honeyeaters, even
though it is late in the season for White-napes to still be in the local
area. Tidbinbilla is a long way from the species core habitat, the Yellow
Box - Ironbark woodlands well to the west of TNR. The fact that there was
no
unusual report forthcoming suggests the observer was having second
thoughts
about his identification, especially as Alastair informed him it was a
potential first record locally.
