Hi Dave

According to HANZAB mammal prey of PO is mostly in the range of 50-100% of adult body weight, which is 1.45kg for male and 1.25 for female (presumably those figures are an average). For Brushtailed Possums weight range in Strahan's Mammals in Australia is 1.2 to 3.5kg for females and 1.3-4.5 for males. I'm guessing the higher figures are for the monstrous Tassie ones. A big one might be a bit much for a PO to tackle, but smaller ones are within prey-size range. Did your half-possum appear to be adult?

cheers

Steve
