Since I suspect the primaeval processed possum will hang around longer than (s)he  who pounced upon it I have attached a photo of same.  I have a (much larger) copy of this image if anyone wants to follow up Steve's investigation.  Also one more conventional photo, although I suspect Geoffrey has done all theis needed on that.
 
Many thanks to Anthony and all who kept reporting on the bird so that I was motivated to trek in after our entertainment duties were completed!  I wonder what the beginnning birders will expect on the next outing - a hyacythine macaw perhaps?

traces' I think the jaw might be from a Sugar Glider - going on size and
