A list from the gutter

This morning was decreed to be the time to clean the gutters, in the hope that there will soon be some rain to fill our rainwater tank.  While in this elevated position I observed 6 varied sitellas in a large tree (of unknown species), a male scarlet robin, wilie wagtail, superb blue wrens, yellow-rumped thornbills, welcome swallows, 3 magpies and (hundreds of feet overhead) 8 little ravens.  A good start to a GBS week.

I haven't noticed any migrating honeyeaters for a few days (but there was not a great movement through our place at any time).  Last week the resident flock of a dozen dusky woodswallows were hawking off the 'phone wires in their usual spot and showing no great inclination to be anywhere else.

A relatively unusual - as far as I am aware - avifaunal observation is that a white-throated treecreeper has taken to roosting under our eaves.  It clings on to a fascia panel in a corner of the building, in a very similar position to that occupied by another member of this species at the house of our neighbour in Bruce.  A further similarity to that bird is the level of fertilser production: I am wondering if treecreepers share the guano gene with Peruvian cormorants.
