Here's a question for your deliberations (please) from an observant Mt Rogers walker this morning.
 
Presumably Sulphur Crested Cockatoos don't deafen themselves with their own screeches.  Would the way they fly &/or their aural structures prevent self-deafening?
Perhaps they have selective hearing?
