Rainbow Bee-eaters were heard (but not seen) very high over Chapman at 12:50 yesterday for a minute or so. Unfortunately I reacted too slowly and when I got organised to look for them they had pretty much gone in a NNE direction (could have been heading for O'Connor).

Also two flocks of about red wattlebirds moving about 100 m high in ENE direction at about 11 am on Saturday. Certainly from the reports on the chat line today predictions of an early migrating season seem to be coming true, though the bee-eaters are close to the end of the time you might see/hear them in Canberra.
