me too
I have been thinking how many begging juveniles I have
heard lately in Mcquarie and Hawker. On checking most pairs have only 2 or so
young, rather than 5 or 6. (heard my first king parrots for ages in Mcquarie
this morning).
I have also seen quite a few flocks of juvenile
crimsons around Aranda and Russell. If I remember right I am pretty sure
once they gain independence flocks of juveniles may form and so juveniles may
not be seen with adults

in plumage change timing.
Re Michael's comment about seeing fewer young Crimson Rosellas this season,
I haven't noticed the same thing with the rosellas around my place in Kambah.
While I haven't made counts on adult vs yound birds I certainly haven't felt
that this year is any different to previous years in terms of proportions of
adult and young birds. I wonder if there could be a difference in breeding
success between suburban birds vs Canberra Nature Park birds (or do your birds
move between suburbs and CNP Michael?)
