A perfect reply and explanation from Ian. Although
just by looking at the photo, it doesn't look like a hybrid to me. I'd say this
one looks like a normal young Eastern Rosella (maybe the green extends
oddly far down the neck). Hybrids usually have blue cheeks and scruffy dark
red down the belly. Are you sure the Crimson is a real and not an adoptive
parent? A hybrid between the two species is noted maybe every two or three years
in Canberra. (The parrot section header of the GBS Report mentions this.) The
last one I recall seeing was behind the war memorial about 8 years
ago.
