Yes John those are relevant points. Although the
residency of the Pied Currawong has increased, as well as the number of them staying over summer
within Canberra, the average annual abundance has not changed (winter numbers
have gone down). We have not yet had a breeding record yet
for these cuckoo species but hopefully it will happen. Yes Pied Currawongs are hosts for Channel-billed Cuckoos but Koels go for
smaller birds (such as friarbirds, orioles & magpie-larks according to
Readers Digest book).
