Well I'm not sure how much impressions count for but the only Boobook I have encountered in the ACT in the last about 3 years was one at Castle Hill (near Tharwa) in winter this year. Prior to that I have encountered a few more, including having once filmed one in the tree in my back yard at night. Jerry Olsen was following several of them and may know about that group which I expect were disrupted by the road works west of Black Mountain.
As for the Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos, numbers of them have certainly declined. It would be nice to know if they have gone somewhere else or died out after, so many came into Canberra in 2003 - 2004. I am not aware of any increase or decline in the Gang-gang. (Is that supported?) GBS results from the ABR post my GBS report are not so easy to use but suggest some changes along those lines but not enough to suggest it is more than the usual background yearly fluctuation.

It is mid October and this reminds me that I have not heard a Boobook

in Canberra since before the bushfires of January 2003 (although I

have found them in daytime roosts).  Is this a shared experience?  If

so does anyone have a rationale for this?  Clearly the species is

still present in the ACT but it has become very inconspicuous.

Gang-Gang and Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos became more conspicuous

for a couple of years  post inferno but they also appear to have

decreased in numbers during the last 12 months.
