Hi all,
As most people know COG is being represented in the
twitchathon the weekend after next. The team had a meeting last night trying to
pin down some sites where we may be able to pick up several species. As part of
our searching we will be down on the south coast from near Nowra to about
Moruya. Can anyone point us in the direction of the following on the coast - Bell
Miner north of Moruya, Glossy Black-Cockatoo, Pied Cormorant, Azure Kingfisher,
and closer to home, Scarlet and Flame Robin, especially if either occur near
the top of the Clyde, a good spot for Diamond Firetail and Brown Songlark locally
although we may get these out “west”. Finally does anyone know the
whereabouts of the nesting Tawny Frogmouth in the botanic gardens. We would
prefer this one to the one that Terry Gourlay has near his house as we are
obliged to officially finish in the ANBG. Also, has anyone recently travelled
the Shallow Crossing road that starts/ends at Nelligen and if so is there much
along it? I drove this road many years ago and from memory it was quite good
for birds. All help gratefully received. Remember it is your team so if you
can, give us a hand.
Finally if you still want to sponsor the team drop me
an email with either a pledge of a set donation or so much per species. We are
aiming at about 200 species in the 24 hours but all sorts of factors can come
into play.
Thanks in advance,
Mark
