Hi Jeannie,
I have seen Spotted Quailthrush near the start of
the Square Rock trail and along that ridge but it is a steep climb/drive up from
Smokers Gap to the start of the walk along the ridge.
Any rocky ridge with bare ground is a chance but
the more open the better your chance of seeing one walking quickly away. Driving
the Mt Franklin road sounds good to me.
