A nice informative picture by Ian, in between the ACTION buses swishing
past. However, he must work harder on his snake-picture titles. These,in
general, are more important than the picture, and belong to that sub-class
of nature writing known as 'Great moments in the exploration of the natural
world'.
For example, two of my favourites are from that bible of the ACT
reptile-watcher "The Taipan: The World's Most Dangerous Snake" (1995)
Kangaroo Press, Kenthurst.
These are:
"Ram Chandra handling a Taipan by its tail. This is a potentially dangerous
approach to restraining this species as it can curve inwards and upwards,
and strike with lightning speed."
"Ray Atkinson (left), Bill and Sam Bacon hold a bag over the end of a hollow
log with a large Taipan inside. David Fleay was also involved, prodding the
snake from the other end of the log."
