To add just a little. I have a diary entry from August '02 were we saw about 20 Red-browed Finches foraging 4m above the ground among the seed capsules of a Casaurina cunninghamiana near Shepherds Lookout. I was a little more surprised, I suppose, to see c.20 European Goldfinches pigging out a metre lower. Watched for 10 minutes and the two groups maintained their distance, no intermingling. HANZAB mentions C. cunninghamiana as one of three casaurinas goldfinches have been noted feeding on as well as the fact they sometime forage with Red-browed Fireants.
