Back when they were just commencing the earthworks for Lake Ginninderra
there were White-fronted Chats present in the Emu Bank vicinity, along where
Hungry Jacks and the other bite-and-barfs are now.
I retain fond memories of the area. One time, while trail bike riding
rather than birding, I was chased out of there by a feisty old lady ranger
driving a Kombi Van. I took the roughest egress route I could see which the
little Bultaco handled easily, but Ranger Sasquatch and Hitler's Revenge
chickened out. My lack of licence plates wouldn't have appeased her angst
either.
