It's just a reminder of how far we still have to go
in the fight for sensible vegetation management in Australia. Sadly that
Ironbark country has low agricultural productivity.
That is why it wasn't cleared in the past and it
certainly isn't economically viable with todays farm prices. I suspect the
small white pebbles are "milky quartz" commonly a component of these poor
soils.
The absense of trees perhaps indicates that these
areas had been cleared in the past and so not subject to present clearing
restrictions.
