I promise the convener I'll not put any more NY stuff on this list for a while, but this is so weird I thought it worth reporting.

A non-personal birding note from the ebirds chatline.  One guy has found black skimmers in the Turtle Pond in Central Park.  This is unusual in itself but what is most unusual is that the birds are being seen between 9:30 and 12 ? PM!!!  Apparently there are lights in the area which enable the skimmers to be seen.  I cannot imagine what enables the observers to get out of the Park in one piece, with their binoculars, at that time.
