G’day all,

For the first time this year I had a very few Yellow-faced Honeyeaters moving through the trees in what passes for a garden at my house in Kaleen this morning. The maximum number was about 10 and the rush lasted about 15 minutes. What did surprise me was a very vocal Noisy Friarbird in a large Blakely’s Red Gum In a neighbour’s yard around midday carrying on as though he had just arrived for spring. Usually when this species moves away from Kaleen it does so quietly. I suppose the days are still rather warm and have confused a few species as to exactly what time of year it is. I have also heard lots of Silvereyes over the last two weeks but haven’t been out to check if the Tasmanian subspecies has arrived here yet.
