The nesting Great Cormorants at Qbn Sewage Works are nesting no more.  The nest on top of the metal box has completely disappeared and the other nest on the deck of the pontoon is now only a few sticks – perhaps this happened in the wild weather last week.  The Great Crested Grebe has also moved on.

Although there is little to see at the mainly dry expanse known as Kelly Swamp, one species enjoying the present conditions is the Black-fronted Dotterel, which has built up to a population of 24.  There is a mixture of adult and young birds which may be distinguished by the weak markings of the latter.
