Here is another take on the matter from Macdonald, JD
1987, The illustrated dictionary of Australian birds
by common name, Reed, Frenchs Forest, NSW, p. 74:
'Apparently native name adopted by early colonists in
NSW, used by Gould, who attributed use to Latham, but
Latham gave name red-crowned parrot; meaning not
known.'
