Sorry this is not a message about Canberra area birds but it is from an ex-cogger that I thought some people might like to hear about.
 
Whilst speaking to my father (Reid McLachlan) the other night he was really excited about a Swamp Harrier that has totally decimated three clutches of Black Duck ducklings on the big irrigation dam on his farm in Railton, Tassie.  Apparently the Swampy flushes all the birds into the middle of the dam, waits for them to dive (whilst virtually hovering) and plucks them off the water as soon as they pop up! 
 
Great stuff to watch whilst eating at the dining table apparently!
