Thanks Michael for your comments. About the timing of the Raven's brood. I was a bit surprised at seeing recently fledged Aust. Ravens in Barton (next to the Edmond Barton building) in mid September this year. I nearly wrote about it to this list then a quick check of a certain relevant reference suggested I shouldn't bother. Then this brood is much later. However as you can easily see from the nice graph of timing of breeding of the Aust. Ravens on page 107 of "Canberra Birds: A Report on the first 21 years of the Garden Bird Survey" (and inferred from the text of the 18 year report) the species has a broad breeding period here and Michael's observations are on par. Both sets of observations and entirely within the normal range.
