I dropped in to Fern Hill Park on Saturday afternoon for a look.
Several vocal New Holland Honeyeaters in the abundant Banksia, as every winter. Then a raptor shot out from the shrubs trailing large prey, but didnt get far due to the weight. I then spent 10 minutes watching the Collared Sparrowhawk tear the probable Crested Pigeon(?) apart some 10 metres from where I sat in my car. The usual Red-browed Finches and Eastern Spinebills were still around.
I was very disappointed in all the ongoing development by Fern Hill pond. This area used to be a favourite of mine, now there is hardly any open area or vegetation left. Most of the trees on the hill itself have ribbons around them, and its being used as a rubbish dump now...despite this a MFF including Varied Sittellas passing through.
Cheers
