At least some of them roost on the slopes of Parliament House. I know this from the security staff who have to leave their heated bunkers to go out under the flagpole and chase the ibis away. The straw-necked ibis forage on the grassy floodlit slopes of Parliament House and set off the anti-terrorist security alarms.

Does anyone have any idea where all the Straw-necked Ibises in Gungahlin roost at night? During the day they wander around the greens of the Gungahlin Lakes Golf Course.

I watched 2 groups of 50 birds each heading off in V formation on Friday at dusk. They flew from the golf course, over Gungahlin Marketplace, and headed east towards Goorooyarroo or Majura? Or maybe the big dam at Mulligans??

Cheers
