Hi Rick,
I agree with Mark that it sounds suspiciously like a Swift Parrot but would
be interested to hear about what behaviour was seen and what calls were
made, if any.

G'day Rick,
Sounds suspiciuosly like a Swift Parrot to me. I would put pen to paper
and send the record in to the COG Rarities Panel - a form is available
on COG's web site.
Cheers,

Can anyone suggest what this bird is?
Seen around 1pm today (Wednesday 11 May) above the pond outside Chats cafe
at the School of Art, ANU:
a small mainly bright green parrot, a small red area on the leading edge of
the shoulders, yellow on the back edge of the wings, red above bill then
turquoise blue on head, dark eye, pale yellowish bill with red around it,
long thin tail. Approximately Rainbow Lorikeet size.
it certainly wasn't a Red-rump (rump was green) and allowed me to get
within a meter and a half before flying a short distance.
Rick
