Okay, next time I pose a similar question, it will be 'Where was I?' so that
noone can cheat from the IP address....
And all the detectives out there are right - I am in Fiji, in a large hotel
in Suva on Viti Levu.
The full list of species also found in Australia that I have seen is:
Eastern Reef Egret
White-faced Heron
Swamp Harrier
Feral Pigeon
Spotted Dove
White-rumped Swiftlet
Collared Kingfisher
Common Mynah
Golden Whistler (although the race here is spectacular, with a golden throat
as well as golden belly, and an indistinct black line across the breast)
Silvereye
Crested Tern
Bridled Tern
Pacific Golden Plover
Whimbrel
Bar-tailed Godwit
Wandering Tattler
Sharp-tailed Sandpiper
Ruddy Turnstone
Red Knot
Other species that I have seen include:
White-throated Pigeon
Pacific Swallow
Jungle Mynah
Red-vented Bulbul
Red Adavat
The Fijian endemics (the species that would really have given it away) that
I have managed to catch up with are:
Fiji Goshawk
Barking Pigeon
Collared Lory
Masked Shining Parrot
Streaked Fantail
Slaty Monarch
Vanikoro Broadbill
Fiji White-eye
Orange-breasted Myzomela
Wattled Honeyeater
Fiji Woodswallow
A total of 35 species. Unfortunately, I leave tomorrow, so will probably
not add any more now.
