My usual tour of the remnant woodlands etc. in the
Tarago area produced today (13 Mar) an immat Spotted Harrier, a pair of Diamond
Firetail with its 2nd brood of the season (2 young this time, 3 the previous
time), some flocks of Richard's Pipit (30 and 10) and as a first encounter over
many years 1 White-throated Treecreeper (female) in a small patch of snow gums;
also a flock of 10 Gang-gangs and a family of Southern
Whitefaces. Rufous Whistlers foliage bathing (it was quite foggy in
the morning). But a few of the regulars, such as Grey Shrike-thrush, were
absent.
