Yesterday on our travels, Pete Cowper and I saw a Black Falcon. The bird was soaring above the ex pine forest beside the Brindabella Rd, about three kms south-west of Uriarra homestead. We got a very good look at it as it soared over us. As if right on cue for comparative identification purposes, we also managed to see a dark morph Brown Falcon just down the road a bit further. Great opportunity to compare the two birds. Almost as good as seeing them in the one view. The last Black Falcon I saw in the ACT was about two years ago. That particular individual was chasing needletails over my house in Scullin at the time. A rarities report is on its way. Cheers
