All right, after the appearance of Martin's fluoropink stake, who's responsible for the little stakes marked '1' and '2' bang in the middle of the secret crake spot? I infer that they have not been erected by a birdperson because I know it's not Frank, who's moved to New Zealand, and anyway such a person would a) have taken the opportunity, while penetrating the crake sanctuary, to remove some of the growth that already obstructs a clear view of both stakes and crakes from Casuarina Rise, b) have chosen better labels, perhaps a continuation of Harvey's hide avianom series, maybe 'Duck' and 'Egretta', c) have told others what masterplan for enhanced crake observation was on foot. I infer therefore, pending better information, that the markers are associated with the tadpole collection program of the Junior Swampeteers based at the nearby Birigai educational facility.
