I was lucky enough to see 'a' Buff-banded Rail at O'Connor Wetland yesterday evening at around 6.15pm. However, it was some 50m north of the wetland in a silt trap below a footbridge. Which makes me wonder, as was initially reported, that there are at least 2 birds in the area. The bird I saw was in the open, although upon spotting me it hurried into some long grass.

Cheers
Marnix

The O'Connor Wetland BBR, an adult, was present this afternoon. It was
flushed from the east side, quite high up on the bank, and flew across the
water into the western reeds, where it remained for some time, partially
visible. The wetland's quite small and doubtless the bird uses all of it.
And how on earth did it find it?!
