I also visited Kellys swamp yesterday, ran into Geoffrey Dabb who showed me
the channel and I had glimpses of Baillons and Spotless crakes. I walked
towards the silt trap and saw double bar finches. Plus 2 sacred kingfishers
hawking for flying beetles. At the silt trap I disturbed a brown goshawk. 2
goldfinches.
On returning to the channel I had good views of the Australian Spotted crake
bathing. Also saw 2 goldfinches at Bittern hide, one completely green with only
a hint of red on the face (juvenile). Walking towards Cyngus I saw a common
bronzewing. At the southern edge of Kellys was a golden headed cisticola. At
dusk a hobby zoomed over kellys swamp.
