Hi all - Sorry I'll miss it, still having a great time down in Thredbo -
nothing of real note to report except that the ravens who had started
feeding chicks were driven off the nest by other ravens and one killed -
not sure how, may have flown into a window except I would have thought
that they had thick enough necks to resist that. Another pair took some
interest in the nest and attempted to take over the balcony feeding
station, but did not actually nest.
Lots of grey thrushes, various honeyeaters but only one 'red' robin so
far. Also think I've heard a rufous whistler. There are a pair of large
cormorants (all black) on the snow making pond, a couple of magpie
families and some baby red wattle birds.
All the very best for a wonderful New Year's birding to everyone,
cheers, Wendy
