Security at the Regatta Centre have actually been extremely helpful - as far as
they have been able - to visiting birders wanting to twitch this amazing bird.
The Centre is officially "closed" - not for anything to do with rowing, but to
set up for a two day music festival. There are likely to be thousands of
people, cars, loud music, laser and fireworks shows, so anyone planning to
twitch the bird should go sooner rather than later.
Though the site has been 'closed' for the last week, the bird has generally
been viewable from outside 'Gate C', along Old Castlereagh Rd. However, when
there has not been too much activity going on, Security on Gate A (the usual
entrance) have been letting birders in to drive to the Gate C area, and view
the bird from inside the facility. This has not always been possible, and has
varied from day to day, but generally, Security have been very helpful, and
more co-operative than they need have been. It would be great to keep that
good working relationship if possible.
