Emus and pines

It was the plantations in the upper Ovens Valley arount Bright that I was 
thinking of when I made the same comment earlier. As others have said, it's 
likely to be the density of the plantations that makes them unsuitable for bird 
life. I once read a comment here that Spotted Quail-thrush can be found in the 
thinned plantations, but I've never managed to see any.
