My experience with pines in the Chiltern area, where I spent my
childhood and teenage years, is that they are completely silent.
Fortunately there are not many pines in the Chiltern area, mainly around
the Barambogie reservoir. I've had similar experiences in pines in the
Bundanoon area of the NSW Southern Highlands.
